We are committed to protecting your privacy. We collect information necessary to provide and improve the functionality of WhoAmI: Personal Journal.

Account Information:

• Email address: Collected during signup to create and manage your user account, for login, and to facilitate account recovery.
• Name (First name and/or Last name): Collected during signup to personalize your experience within the App (e.g., addressing you by name).
• Journal Entries: This includes all text and content you input into your journal entries. This is highly personal user-generated content. We collect this data to store your journal entries and enable the AI reflection feature.

Usage Data (collected automatically via Firebase):

• Device Information: Your Device's IP address, unique device identifiers (e.g., Android Advertising ID), mobile operating system, browser type, and other diagnostic data.
• App Interaction Data: Information about how you use the App, such as the features you access, the time and date of your visits, and the duration of your sessions. This helps us understand app usage patterns and improve performance.
• Crash Logs: Information about app crashes and errors, which helps us identify and fix bugs.

Our App, built with Capacitor, does not directly use browser cookies or web beacons in the traditional sense for tracking on the mobile application itself. However, as we use Firebase services, these services may use internal identifiers or technologies for their operational purposes.

We use your Personal Data for the following specific purposes:

To Provide Core App Functionality:

• To create and manage your user account, including for login and account recovery.
• To personalize your experience within the App.
• To store your journal entries securely in Firebase Firestore and retrieve them for your access.

• To Improve and Maintain Our Service: We use Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used, monitor its performance, identify usage trends, and make necessary improvements. This helps us enhance your experience and fix any issues.
• For Security and Troubleshooting: To ensure the security and stability of the App, prevent fraudulent activity, and diagnose and resolve technical issues or crashes.
• To Manage Your Requests: To respond to your inquiries, feedback, or support requests.
• To Contact You: We may use your email address to send you important updates or security notifications related to your account or the App, or to provide customer support.

We do not sell your Personal Data to any third parties. We only share your information in the following situations and solely for the purposes described:

With Service Providers: We use Google Firebase as our primary Service Provider for backend infrastructure. This includes:

• Firebase Authentication: To manage user accounts, including your name and email.
• Firebase Firestore: Stores your journal entries.
• Firebase AI features (Vertex AI/Gemini API): Processes summaries of your entries for AI prompt generation.
• Firebase Analytics: Collects anonymized usage and device data to help us understand and improve the App.

These Service Providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy commitments and data processing terms with Google.

For Business Transfers: If We are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your Personal Data may be transferred. We will provide notice before your Personal Data is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.

For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your Personal Data if required to do so by law, in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or government agency), or when we believe such action is necessary to:

• Account Information & Journal Entries: Your name, email, and journal entries are retained as long as your Account exists in the App. When you delete your account, we will initiate the deletion of that data from our servers.
• Usage Data: Usage Data collected via Firebase Analytics is generally retained for a shorter period, primarily for analysis and improvement purposes.

We may retain certain information for a longer period when required by law or if necessary to resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or protect our legal rights.

Your information, including Personal Data, is processed at our operating offices in India and at Firebase's data centers, which may be located outside your country or governmental jurisdiction. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations.

We ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and that adequate controls, including security measures, are in place for any international data transfers.

• Right to Delete (Right to be Forgotten): You have the right to delete your journal entries or your entire account at any time from within the App. When you initiate a deletion, your data will be permanently removed from our Firebase Firestore database and Firebase Authentication (if applicable). Please note that some residual copies may remain on backup systems for a limited period for security and disaster recovery purposes.
• Right to Object to Processing: You can object to certain processing activities (e.g., analytics) by discontinuing the use of the App or disabling relevant features if provided.
• Right to Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on your consent for processing, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time.

The security of your Personal Data is paramount to us. We rely on the robust security measures provided by Google Firebase to protect your data, including encryption for data in transit and at rest, and secure infrastructure.
